Serangoon Public Library
Brand-new library in the new shopping mall, Serangoon Nex.
- If you go to the garden terrace of the new shopping mall, you will find this fashionable library.
- A half of the floor is kids corner. It also has a big program room. Compared to that, adult book section is small.
- Some bookshelves don't have enough books, maybe because it's new and they wish to leave spaces for books coming in future. It will be improved in near future, hopefully.
- [A librarian in the library commented; “we focus on the more popular reads and practical information materials and do not carry reference works, so we are able to hold a similar no. of books but with less shelves. Popular loanable works tend not to sit on the shelves. ("We did cater for extra books, but the demand was really great and now we’re awaiting extra supplies to refill the adult shelves.") As there are also many shoppers in the mall, our concept is more of browse, pick, and go.” ]
- 3 min walk from Serangoon MRT station.
- No cafe inside the library, but lots of food shops and cafes are available in the mall.

- ショッピングモールの最上階、屋上庭園の横に建物がある。とても洒落たデザイン。
- フロアの半分はキッズコーナーが占め、大きなプログラムルームもある。大人用スペースがそのぶん小さめな印象。
- 新しいためかこれから入庫する蔵書のために空けているのか、中身がスカスカの本棚が目についた。しばらくしたら改善される、はず。
- [図書館員さんからコメントを貰いました。「当館では人気小説や実用書に重点を置いて本をそろえるいっぽう、リファレンスブックは置いていません。そのため書架数は少なめですが、他の図書館と同程度の冊数を所蔵しています。人気書籍が多いため本棚の空きスペースも多めです（現在追加の書籍を手配中。）ショッピングモールには多数のお客さまが訪れるため、私たちのコンセプトは「見る、取る、借りて行く」です（座って読むよりも借りて行くことに焦点を当てています）。]

- 館内カフェはなし。ショッピングモールのなかのカフェを利用しましょう。
